For as long as I can remember, I was dreaming of environmental studies. It was my lifetime dream and cherished my passionate ambitions all the time. Somebody see this learning area as nothing interesting and profitable. As for me, I see only excitement and desire. Environmental studies amaze me in different aspects, as I am a nature lover. For me personally, everything connected with the life on the Earth is very important, and that interest only grows with time.
In fact, everything has started when my uncle John took me to his place – lovely countryside with the most picturesque landscapes I have ever seen. He is a zoologist. By the way, he together with his dad has a big farm. It was my best summer. I was outside all day, exploring the nature nearby and helping with the farm stuff. My uncle has taught me a lot and gave me that desire to connect my future with environmental issues. He forced me to participate in a local competition of projects. I was supposed to describe the area where I live in a professional way, including the trustworthy information concerning climate etc. To cut a long story short, I took the prize of the winner.
Then, my life has changed immediately. Everything that interested me was connected with expeditions, excavations, observations etc. Even when the expeditions were tough and all the members were dreadfully stressed, I remained interested and enthusiastic. I reminded myself my dad`s words, “Dream big, set goals and take actions”. That is actually how my life flows till now. From the desk in library to my little lab at home and expeditions – that is the best route of any person who is environmentally interested.
My high school has also encouraged me greatly no never give up. I attended there an environmental and science club, where all other members had the same passionate feeling to those two things. During my schooling, I participated in many competitions, projects and expeditions, what has contributed greatly to my self-improving as a person and a future professional.
Now things are getting more and more interesting. With ages, the experience comes. I enjoy every minute spent on some researches and observations. As time you spent to make your dream come true cannot be regarded as wasted.
I am also active in the community, organizing a topic-related club with some of my friends from school. We gather there to discuss some environmental issues, make some projects and calculations etc. It is also a good tradition to organize a “clean Saturday” twice a month in our town. It really inspires when you see hundreds of people who hear your calling to action.
It was difficult for me to choose the most appropriate to fulfill all my aims. Now, I see that the Cornell University will provide me with the brightest perspectives in life and career. This University has a book with many unread pages for me. So, my aim is to read them all and glory this educational establishment. The University of Cornell offers me lots of opportunities and options I want to be involved in. Alongside with a great reputation, it gives a wide range of activities which are aimed to prepare true professionals, just like I want to become. After studying here, I am sure to find a right place in life.
