What NOT to Say in a Job Interview
Job interviews are greatly important for both employers and employees. Any person should be greatly prepared for interviewing, practice asking questions and giving answers, know how to make a good first impression. However, there are many people, who fail the job interview because they are not careful with responses. What you say to the manager is what determines whether you will get a position or not. We have prepared a list of things you should avoid saying during a job interview, let’s check them out.
What is the company’s role?
It is definitely wrong to ask about what the company does on the market, what are its services or products. The hiring manager would think you haven’t prepared for the interview, therefore, you will not be capable of performing any tasks in the future. That’s why we strongly recommend you to do a thorough research before applying for the job. Look through the company’s main features, history, positions offered, and contact its employees to learn as much useful information as possible.
My last experience with an employer was horrible!
Never complain about your previous employers, companies or organizations. This is a true signal for any manager to think that you are a hard nut to crack. Needless to say, it is necessary to tell about your previous positions and environment, but in a neutral and calm tone. Speak about the experience and knowledge you have gained, the environment and staff you faced, what are the positive sides of the company you’ve been working at, etc.
I am the best candidate for this job!
There is a number of people, who have the bad habit of describing all their traits of character in an interview. And this fact usually repels employers since they look for a restrained, modest and responsible employees. Instead of boasting, any job-seeker should tell his or her skills, that relate to the profession. For instance, you can say that you are aware of coding, easily deal with social media, cope with any sort of documents and write papers, are fluent in several languages, and other useful skills. The employer will learn your features of character during the interview or your internship.
I have no weaknesses.
If the interviewer asks you about your weak sides, do not hesitate to tell him the truth. There were cases when applicants told they hadn’t any weaknesses, that was an absolute lie because every person has both positive and negative features. To not let the employer think you are overconfident and audacious, mention your weaknesses and how you work on them, how you learn from your errors and improve your skills.

Saying you are interviewing with several companies simultaneously is surely a big mistake. Firstly, it might seem that you have picked plenty of other opportunities and do not care which to choose in the end. Secondly, the manager may think you are a neglectful person and accept the very first position available.
