Question 1
Upon the conduction of the interview, I interacted with a professional who has worked as a project manager. He explains about his vision about the project management career. It is something that he strived to achieve for a very long time. After A-level education, he pursued a degree in project management. The degree equipped him with the necessary skills that would enable him to exercise his duties at the workplace. He also researched and read project management books widely; this activity equipped him with the essential knowledge about the career.
He has been in the career field for twelve years. It has been a good experience because he has gained extra experience and information about the course. The career has also enabled him to create new friends at the workplace because it has created a platform for him to interact with people during working.
His career has progressed in many ways. For example, he has been able to increase his experience in the field by working on many projects and learning new things. Also, he has improved his communication skills at the workplace; this has enabled him to be flexible with his clients every time thus attracting many customers. He has also won many titles in the project management field; the awards have always been a stepping stone into the new level. Lastly, the progress in the career has always been as a result of hard work, loyalty, commitment and self-drive.
I would advise a person to pick project management as a career because it is good. Firstly, the demand for project management is increasing. It is one of the first growing professionals in the world; increase in job opportunities means that a project management graduate has high chances of being employed immediately he or she graduates (Lewis,2007). Secondly, a person may work in a variety of companies. Project management exists in different processes, for example, production, processing, and packaging; thus the increase in demand of the professionals. It is an excellent career with high demand. Lastly, it is a career that one can make an impact; it is a job with good rewards. The rewards may enable a person to have a financial breakthrough in his or her life.
Question 2
I interviewed a person who works in my field and collected the required information about how he got into the field. His father inspired him, the father was a human resource manager, and he conducted his work appropriately. The awards he won was a key inspiring factor. Since his father was a role model, he decided to choose human resource management as his ultimate career. He pursued a degree in a related field, and finally, he graduated. After graduation, he was employed thus signifying the start of the career.
The link between human resource management and project management is critical. Human resource deals with managing people in different areas. Project management requires a group of people organized in a team to achieve specific goals; thus we can link project and human resource management. Project management is important in the field mentioned above because it aids in running the various activities conducted by the human resource managers.
I would also advise a person to pursue the human resource management career because there is diversity in the workforce. It provides people a platform to interact and work together thus creating bonds and friendship between people. Moreover, it enables a person to learn the challenges facing people at the workplace hence providing necessary solutions. Human resource management has god rewards. Employees earn a good salary in this career; thus I would advise a person to pursue a human resource course. Lastly, there is the availability of jobs. Unemployment has been a common problem that disturbs people quite often hence choosing to pursue human resource management would be a perfect solution for unemployment issues. The career also enables people to be productive. For proper functioning of the company, the employees should be productive; they should work hard, be generous and loyal. Human resource experts need to motivate the workers to achieve the best thus they play a crucial role in any organization.
As a career, human resource management has less workload — it is all about working with people thus easier as compared to working with machines. Working with people reduces boredom and stress. In most cases, people working with machines are affected by stress because they have nobody to interact with hence human resource is an excellent course to pursue. Lastly, the job does not need a lot of experience as compared to engineering jobs; there is less struggle because it is a non-technical course.
